January 21, 1981: The First Delorean DMC-12

1981 – While getting this up to 88 miles per hour doesn’t take you back in time, it was still a cool car to have. The First production Delorean DMC-12 was built. A prototype was made back in 1976 and all Deloreans were made in Ireland. 9,000 Deloreans were made before financial issues got to the company in 1983. A revival was attempted and announcements of an all-electric Delorean (with prototype), but as of this point has not come out of Vaporware. There is one gold-plated Delorean in Reno, NV. I also got to experience the original “Back to the Future”...

October 2, 1997: Worldcom outbid BT – Wins MCI Communications

1997- MCI was under a bid to be purchased by British Telecommunications. Worldcom came in and outbid BT to snag up the company. What made this the coup de grace is it would make Worldcom the #2 telecom provider, under AT&T. The $37 Billion dollar merger would finalize on November 10th. Then, September 1998 – MCI Worldcom would officially launch. This all crumbled in 2002 when Worldcom filed for bankruptcy.  I was an employee of Worldcom and had been since its original namesake LDDS. January 21, 2000: Kevin Mitnick Uses the Internet

2000 – Kevin Mitnick, who was imprisoned for 5 Years in hacking IBM, Motorola and DEC; then a big chase with the FBI, was released from prision. He was still ordered to not log onto a computer.2003 – Kevin Mitnick finally logs back onto the Internet after the 3 year probation. He fought the prohibition from the Internet and got it reduced to 3 years. No word as to where he went on his first login.
